Democrat Temper Tantrums and Illegal Immigration
“A federal judge is attempting to block the deportation of violent criminals.”
One of the things that President Trump is most known for is his hardline stance on illegal immigration. This is an important distinction in that one of the main narratives the left uses against him is that he is a racist who despises all immigrants. That claim, as overused as it is, could not be farther from the truth. Case in point, even his own base temporarily turned against him recently over his favorable stances on the H1B visa situation and Vivek Ramaswamy, who was somewhat of a right wing folk hero during the 2024 Republican primary debates after demolishing RINO war hawks like Nikki Haley, ended up leaving DOGE after only a month because the MAGA pushback against his support for the H1B visa program was so widely frowned upon.
At any rate, Trump may have positive feelings towards H1B visas and other forms of legal immigration, such as his new gold card initiative, but he is proving daily that he is still the man who won an unlikely electoral victory in 2016 on the back of the slogan “Build the Wall,” and the Democrats are furious about it.
Last Saturday a federal judge from the Clinton administration temporarily blocked Trumps strategy of removing violent illegal immigrants from the United States by using the 1798 Alien Enemies Act. This act, which has only been used three times in American history, states that,
“Whenever there is a declared war between the United States and any foreign nation or government, or any invasion or predatory incursion is perpetrated, attempted, or threatened against the territory of the United States by any foreign nation or government, and the President makes public proclamation of the event, all natives, citizens, denizens, or subjects of the hostile nation or government, being of the age of fourteen years and upward, who shall be within the United States and not actually naturalized, shall be liable to be apprehended, restrained, secured, and removed as alien enemies. The President is authorized in any such event, by his proclamation thereof, or other public act, to direct the conduct to be observed on the part of the United States, toward the aliens who become so liable; the manner and degree of the restraint to which they shall be subject and in what cases, and upon what security their residence shall be permitted, and to provide for the removal of those who, not being permitted to reside within the United States, refuse or neglect to depart therefrom; and to establish any other regulations which are found necessary in the premises and for the public safety.”
In lay terms, if someone is in the US illegally, and engages in unlawful, predatory behavior that the president views as a threat to national security, well, then them’s the breaks and you got to go; and President Trump signaled as much right before he used the act by definitively stating that,
"Over the years, Venezuelan national and local authorities have ceded ever-greater control over their territories to transnational criminal organizations, including [Tren de Aragua]. The result is a hybrid criminal state that is perpetrating an invasion of and predatory incursion into the United States, and which poses a substantial danger."
Now, seeing as how gangs like Tren de Aragua have been running rampant over the last four years of Biden/Harris, something that has earned them comparisons to ISIS by the NSA I might add, it is hard to understand the logic behind someone wanting them to stay. With that said, though, lawmakers on the left side of the aisle are certainly giving it the ole college try.
So, what can we expect going forward? I.e., will Trump concede, and how does this make the Democrats look to liberal voters as we approach the 2026 midterms?
If you were to borrow President Trumps iPhone to type out a message, it is unlikely that the autofill would ever feed you the word concession. This is because, for the most part, Trump doesn’t do them, even when the Democrats are throwing a fit. Therefore, it is unlikely that this attempted lawfare will stick, and this is evidenced by the fact that, since that federal judge’s ruling the planes ordered to turn around have instead remained on course, per Trumps orders, and the result is that over 261 illegal migrants have been deported, 137 of which had direct ties to gangs.
This suggests that, based on the Trump administrations disregard for the lefts lawfare over the last few days, one would be a fool to assume he is going to give in, and this is good news for the people who voted for and against him alike, mind you, due to the fact that these violent illegal immigrants tend to congregate primarily in liberal areas because of the non-stop, taxpayer gravy train of government benefits.
But nonetheless, Democrats seem to be opposed to this move.
It is never smart to underestimate the power Democrats have over their base. I mean, just a few years ago when I lived in Austin, Texas, my mailbox was constantly full with pictures of kids in cages. The message, don’t vote for Republicans unless you want more of this. Well, the truth was that these photos were actually taken during the Obama administration. That truth be damned, though, because it worked like a charm and became instrumental in Austin voting overwhelmingly blue that election cycle.
I say that only to say that the Democrats are masters when it comes to using the racism/xenophobic card. But be this as it may, it is even getting hard for the democrats to ignore the effects of illegal immigration. This is to say that, even though most liberals publicly approve of their leader’s positions on illegal immigration, they are getting legitimately scared to live in blue areas. If you don’t believe this, all you have to do is look at the positive correlation between crime and gun sales in blue areas over the last few years, the rapid migration away from states with sanctuary cities, and the public protests against companies like Tyson, who last year laid off thousands of workers in liberal cities and replaced them with migrants. Yep, despite what they say online and in-person to their fellow lefties, the tide is turning in regard to this issue and the Democrat lawmakers best take note.
In summary, the more Democrats like this judge filibuster against Trumps immigration agenda, the more they risk ostracizing their base. This, of course, is a good thing for Republicans and the America First agenda at large, though, so I am happy to simply sit back, grab some nachos, and let them hoist themselves on their own petard.
